Elizabeth “Betty” Carhart Irwin - October 30, 2009

RAVENA – Elizabeth “Betty” Carhart Irwin passed away Friday, October 30, 2009.  Betty was born in Albany and lived all her life in the Ravena Coeymans area.  She worked as a bus driver for Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School and Hillside House transporting handicapped children.  Betty was a life member of the Coeymans Hollow Fire Co. auxiliary.

     Betty was predeceased by her husband David Irwin.  Survivors include her son Russell (Louise) Irwin;  daughter Tammy (Keith) Krzykowski;  grandchildren Jeremy and Jeffery Irwin, Christina (Joel) Bathrick, Amanda (Mark) Demitraszek, Davin Kryzkowski and DeEtte (Cliff) Hirsch;  great-grandchildren Zarah and Zachary Bathrick, Kaylie and Mark Demitraszek, Amber Hirsch, David Kusisto and Jayden Irwin;  and sisters Rita Perrine and Ruth Ivester.  Betty was predeceased by her parents Ray and Mina Seaburgh Carhart, her son David R. Irwin, brothers Edward, Kenneth and Raymond Carhart and sister Jean Whitehouse.

     Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, November 2nd at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena.  Burial will follow in Mt Pleasant Cemetery, South Bethlehem.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 6 PM.  Contributions in memory of Betty may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
