BALTIMORE – Velma R. (Hotaling) Armstrong passed away at home
surrounded by family and loved ones, Tuesday, November 13, 2018.
Velma was born and raised in Ravena; married Lester S. Armstrong in
1946 and spent the remainder of her days in New Baltimore. She
worked for 20 years at the New York State Department of Education
and was a longtime member of the Grace United Methodist Church and
New Baltimore Volunteer Fireman’s Auxiliary. Preceded in death by
Lester in 2000, she chose to spend her remaining years in the
Velma was the loving mother of two sons, Keith (Elaine) and Kraig
(Susan); her beloved grandchildren are Jennifer, Todd, Scott,
Stacey, Ryan, and Reese; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Audrey, Alice,
Sienna, Luke, Hayden, Harper, Brynlee and Aubrey. She was also
preceded in death by her brother, Melvin and niece, Sandra. Velma
is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews.
Velma was truly blessed to have the love and dedication of many
friends and care givers.
The family will receive friends at the Babcock Funeral Home,
Ravena on Sunday, November 18th from 4 to 7 PM. A funeral service
will be held Monday, November 19th at Grace United Methodist Church,
Ravena at 10 AM with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to
