Catherine M. Carpentier
(nee Connelly) passed into eternal life on September 6th after a
brief fight with cancer, she was 59.
Cathy grew up in the
Colonie and Albany area, graduating from Colonie High School in
1977. She then spent 35 years working for New York State, primarily
with Higher Education Services Corporation as a computer programmer.
Family was always at the
center of Cathyís life. She worked to keep her siblings together as
they grew up, raised two children, was a care giver to her
mother-in-law, cared for her grand-puppies and had recently taken on
her dream of being a grandma. She was married to her husband, Rod,
for 38 years and though they challenged each other, their genuine
and real love was always present.
Cathy was pre-deceased
by her natural parents, Frank and Margaret Connelly as well as her
foster parents Ronald and Marguerite Riordan. Also going before her
were her brother Frank and her in-laws Rodney and Doris Carpentier.
Cathy is survived by her
husband, Rodney Jr., her son Rodney III, his wife Laura and their
daughter Fraley; and her daughter Shannon, her husband Vincent and
their expectant daughter. She is further survived by her brothers
David Connelly (Barbara), Patrick Connelly, John Connelly, Matthew
Riordan (Laura), Andrew Riordan (Jolene) and Christopher Connelly
(Ruth), and her sister Judith Collier. Her extended family included
her sisters-in-law Donna Sharer (Patrick), Denese Bernaiche
(Daniel), and Darlene Mack (Roland), as well as many nieces and
Cathy was above all the
greatest friend to everyone. She was a selfless person who never
turned away from an opportunity to help. She was kind, thoughtful
and caring, simply the one everyone could turn to.
The family wants to
thank the prayers of the community especially the members of the St.
Patrickís Parish and the Grace United Methodist Church, as well as
the staff of St. Peterís Hospital and the Hospice Inn at St. Peterís
for the care and comfort they have shown Cathy.
