 Lois Gillette Chapman, 88, of Albany, NY, passed away on April 15, 2019 surrounded by her family. Lois was born on August 10, 1930 to John and Hilda (Stehr) Gillette. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, reading, gardening, knitting, shopping and trips to the “office”. Lois graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1948 and worked as a secretary, nursing assistant and bus driver and cared for her large family. In 1952 she married her husband of 50 years Raymond J. Chapman, Jr.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, daughter Patricia Biele, sisters Marjorie (Stanley) Marks and Mary (Nunzio) Biondi; and granddaughter Hilary Chapman. She is survived by her children: Jack (Barb) Chapman; Carol (Wayne) Cronin; Kevin (Chene) Chapman; Lois (Anthony) Porrazzo; Raymond Chapman III; Tracey (Keith) Traver; Patrick “Chip” Chapman; Michael (Dave) Chapman; Mary (Randy) MacDonald; and Kerry (Rob) Traver.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan (Tricia) Chapman; Courtney Cronin; Kelly (Rance) Manalo; Francis Biele; Brian Biele; Patricia Biele Hogan; Andrea Olson; Christopher Porrazzo; Ryan Porrazzo; Katie (Andrew Jarmak) Chapman; Brandy Chapman; Sammy Chapman; Keith (Danielle) Traver, Jr.; Caitlin (Joseph) Baldwin; Thomas (Samantha) Traver; Tyler Chapman; Erik Chapman; Joshua MacDonald; Brandon MacDonald; Kaylee Traver; and Danielle Traver; as well as her great-grandchildren; Aubrey Chapman, Kamryn Chapman and Cody Chapman; Abby DuBois; Jayden Baldwin and Damon Baldwin; Samantha Hogan, Nolan Hogan, and Riley Hogan, Kallie Chapman; and Harley and David Olson; a great-grandchild due in the fall. She will also forever be missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and close friends, including her dearest friend Helen Tryon.  She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and loyal friend.

Family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to her many aides for all their compassionate care and their friendship. 

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28, at 1:00 to 4:00 PM, at Babcock Funeral Home, 19 Pulver Avenue, Ravena.

A mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 29th, at 11:00 AM at Church of St. Patrick, 21 Main Street, Ravena followed by a burial service at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery located at 1389 Central Avenue, Colonie.
