RAVENA – Christopher J. Gallagher, 65, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at home with his loving family and friends by his side. Chris was the son of the late George and Angeline Gallagher.

Chris retired after thirty years of service from the former General Electric in Selkirk, N.Y.
Chris was a member of the R-C Sportsman Club where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and archery. He made several trips to Alaska to fish the annual running of the King Salmon. He was a great enthusiast of radio controlled airplanes which he built and flew. He also enjoyed restoring vintage cars; he owned several fine automobiles over the years. Chris was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Dallas Cowboys. Chris was known to be the life of the party and always made a friend wherever he went (one more and we’ll all go).

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patricia (Pebler) Gallagher; children, Christina Driscoll (Keith Devine), Kimberly Gallagher-Alberts (Larry), and Christopher Gallagher, Jr. He was the cherished PaPa to Tyler Gallagher, Jeffrey Driscoll, Caitlyn and Evan Gallagher, Angelina, Gabriella, Addison and Emery Alberts. Also survived by siblings, George Gallagher (Pat), Joe Gallagher (Charlotte), Jack Gallagher (Marjorie) and Mike Gallagher (Mary Lou Norton); sister-in-law, Linda Datri (John); best friends, Bob “Bob-O” Keegan (Cheryl), and Phil Muller; and many nieces and nephews. Chris was predeceased by his sister, Joanna Murphy, and his brother-in-law, Terry Pebler.

A special thanks to Deanna and Michael Weeks, their unwavering presence and care in his final days was of great comfort to Chris and his family.

Chris was thankful for, the amazing care he received from the nursing staff at Albany Medical Center, and New York Oncology Hematology. He was especially fond of Dr. Mark Napier and Ellen McGann, who always went above and beyond which never went unnoticed.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, August 14th at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Chris may be made to the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers and Blood Disorders at Albany Medical Center or Make-a-Wish of Northeast New York.
