GLENMONT – Ann Dalton Green died Thursday, February 9, 2017 in
Albany Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Ann was born in
Bayside, Queens on July 28, 1930, beloved daughter of John and
Florence Cunningham Dalton. Ann spent her summers at the Dalton
summer home in Alcove and in 1944 she made her Alcove home her
permanent residence. Her freshmen year in high school was spent at
the Academy of the Holy Names in Albany and her final high school
days were spent at Ravena-Coeymans Central High School from which
she graduated with the Class of 48.
After 34 years of service with Central Hudson Gas and Electric Ann
retired in 1990 having spent 19 years in the Ravena office as a well
known customer representative and 15 years in the district office in
Catskill. Prior to working for Central Hudson, Ann served in the
governor’s office during the Dewey administration, at the Bureau of
Motor Vehicles and the Thruway Authority in Albany.
Ann was an active participant in a number of organizations. She
held several different and challenging positions as a member of
Vanguard, the support group for the Albany Symphony Orchestra. She
was also past member and County Secretary of the New York State
Federation of Women’s Clubs and a member of the Ravena Grange, a
member of Central Hudson’s Quarter Century Club and was formerly an
officer of The Little Red School House Historical Society.
Ann is survived by her loving niece, Nancy Dalton Buck, of Tampa,
Florida; and her faithful and loyal caregivers, Jackie “Dee” and
Bernadette St Pierre. Ann was predeceased by her parents; brother,
James J. Dalton and his wife Margaret; sister, Veronica Dalton;
and nephew, Douglas Dalton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on
Thursday, February 16, 2017 at The Church of St. Patrick, Ravena.
Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Coeymans. Friends
may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Wednesday from 4 to
