DELMAR – Ruth J.
Lambert, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2015 at the
Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Ruth was born and raised in
Newmanstown, Pa., the daughter of the late Leon and Nellie German
Keener. After High school she enlisted in the U.S. Navy . As a
Radioman she met Robert J. Lambert, who later became her husband of
In addition to
being a loving wife and mother of six children, Ruth later went on
to work as a school bus driver for the R-C-S school district, as
well as working as a secretary for the Slidell, La Dialysis Ctr.
While living in Louisiana she fell in love with the local culture
that included fishing, shrimping, attending New Orleans Saints games
and the yearly Mardi-Gras. She was very proud of her
Pennsylvania-Dutch heritage as shown through her wonderful Dutch
cooking. An all around excellent cook, she took great pride in
cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. Ruth was also
an avid Red Sox fan.
predeceased by her parents Leon and Nellie Keener and her devoted
husband, Robert J. Lambert.
Survived by her
sister, Dawn Sell of Meyerstown, PA; children, Michael, of
Coeymans, Dawn, of Tampa, Fla; Stephen (Suzanne), of Delmar, David
(Karen), of Forest Hill, MD, Robert (Linda) Slidell, LA and Casey
(Michael) Few, Long Beach, CA; 7 grandchildren, Alexander, Laura,
Zachary, Carly, Robert III, Connor and James; several nieces and
call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Friday, May 8th from 4
to 7 PM with the funeral service to immediately follow at 7 PM.
Interment will be held 10 am Saturday, May 9, 2015 at St. Patrick’s
