RAVENA – Frances M. McCormick born December 29,
1930 daughter of the late Francis and Mary Staats McCormick went to
be with our Lord in heaven April 17, 2014. Frances attended Ravena
High School and furthered her education at Russell Sage receiving an
associates degree in History and a bachelors degree in English. She
worked over 35 years with the SUNY State University Central
Administration of New York State, having held positions of senior
stenographer, principal clerk and personal administrator. She was
principal stenographer to the office of employee Relations and
personnel operations upon retirement.
Fran loved a challenge and when younger drove stock cars. She also
learned to fly and owned her own plane. In 2009 she was recognized
by the Aircraft and Pilots Association in her role of preserving and
promoting APOPA’S mission to promote the safety, economy and
popularity of general aviation.
Fran was a selfless dedicated person willing to help whenever
called. Her greatest love next to her family and closest friends was
the sport of bowling. She started bowling while still in high school
and was a member of the schools bowling team who often had set their
own pins before automatic pin spotters. She was a member of the
former WIBC (now USBA) for over 60 years serving as a state and
national delegate. She served on the NY State Board of Directors for
27 years attaining the position of 2nd Vice President. Fran was also
a member of the local and NY State 600 Club and the National Hall of
Fame and Capital City 600 Club. She was a life member of the NY
State Bowling writers having served as Secretary/Treasurer. Fran
also was president of the former Albany WBA for 15 years and was a
member of the Albany Hall of Fame.
Fran is survived by her sister, Virginia Corbett of Palm Coast, FL;
and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents Fran was
predeceased by her brother Thomas McCormick and sister Alice Wells
Krzykowski. She will be missed by her faithful cat Ty.
A special thanks goes to her niece Cindy Foronda and her best friend
Lucille Daignault for caring for her in the last few months of life.
Also a special thank you to Steve and Cathy O’Halloran for their
help when ever needed.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the
Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Friends may call at the funeral home
prior to the service starting at 10 AM. Interment will follow the
service in Chestnut Lawn Cemetery, New Baltimore.

a charity of your choice.
