GLENMONT – John A. Newkirk, 76, passed away courageously with his loving family by his side on January 17, 2021 at home.  He was born in Selkirk, son of the late Grace and Alfred Newkirk.

     He leaves behind his wife and soulmate Sandra P. Newkirk; children, Shane A. Newkirk and Susan S. Heath (William); grandchildren, Rafael V. Balls and Sean W. Heath; brothers, Ed Newkirk (Marje), Don Newkirk (Nancy); sister, Louise (Cornelious) Goes; and brother-in-law, Donald Pickup.  John was predeceased by brother, Theodore Newkirk and sister, Barbara Pickup.

     Special thanks to his friends and family who stood by his side.  Special thanks to his brothers, Don Newkirk and wife Nancy and Ed Newkirk and wife Marjory who stood by his side relentlessly and to Hilary Bruce and Hospice who helped provide loving care in his time of need.

     John will be remembered for his love for working on classic cars and cruising, participating in car shows, Motorcycles and NASCAR.

     Due to COVID, services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.  A graveside ceremony will be held at a later time in the spring.  Contributions in memory of John may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
