WALDORF, MD – Madalin “Tommie” Tompkins Pemberton, 100, passed away
July 3, 2015. Tommie was born in Albany and lived most of her life
in Ravena before moving to Glenmont and then MD to be closer to her
daughter. She married Kenneth Pemberton in 1936 and was widowed at
an early age.
Tommie was a graduate of Ravena High School. She was employed at
the Ravena News-Herald, Hood’s Ice Cream and retired after many
years of service with the former Atlantic Cement Co., now LaFarge.
She was a member of the Ravena Congregational Christian Church, Past
Matron of the Ella C. Perry Eastern Star, Coeymans-Ravena Women’s
Club and bridge clubs in Glenmont, NY. She enjoyed reading, playing
bridge, caring for her cat and being on the go.
Tommie is survived by her daughter, Judith Greene of Fort
A memorial service will be held at the Ravena Congregational
Christian Church, 175 Main St., Ravena, NY 12143 on Saturday, August
1, 2015 at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Chestnut Lawn Cemetery,
The family is suggesting in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory
of Tommie be made to her favorite charity, Whiskers Animal
Benevolent League, PO Box 11190, Albany, NY 12211, or the Ravena
Congregational Christian Church.
