– Dorothy H. Pfeffer, 91, passed away peacefully with her loving
family by her side Sunday, May 19, 2013. Dot enlisted in the army
during WWII. She served in New Guinea and the Phillipines as a
teletype operator. She then worked as a civilian employee at Fort
Totten, LI until her retirement. She resided in Queens, NY until
2009 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Assisted Living until her
Dot was an amazing
lady who touched so many of us. Her cheerful ways and appreciation
for the small things in life made her so easy to be around. She was
loved by so many. She writes in her autobiography, left behind for
us to read, “It has been said that I was vaccinated with a
phonograph needle and my mother was scared by a blasting radio while
I was being born”. Dot loved people and loved talking and listening
to other people’s stories. Farewell to our PVT Dorothy H. Pfeffer.
You hold a special place in All our hearts. Heaven got the best
gift today. Love you always.
her brother, George (Sara) Pfeffer and family of CA; sister-in-law,
Jean (Gerard) Pfeffer of Coxsackie; niece and best pal, Linda
(Michael) McGraw of Ravena; many other nieces and nephews; and her
very close friends, the Moll family. Dorothy was predeceased by her
parents, her brothers Carl, John and Gerard Pfeffer and special
friend Malcolm Taylor.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, May 24th at the
Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Burial with military honors will
follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery at 1 PM. Friends may call
at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM.
