RAVENA – Etta Mae
Thompson Curless Wagoner, 77, passed away peacefully Friday,
September 20, 2013 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Etta Mae died after
spending her birthday watching her grandchildren’s ball games and
going to bingo.
Etta Mae was born in Oakhill, NY September 14, 1936, daughter of the
late Hazel Pangburn and Walter Thompson. She and her 9 siblings
attended school in Middleburgh. Etta Mae worked for many years as a
short order cook and waitress at restaurants such as Little Nick’s
Diner and The Coffee Cup. She retired from customer service at
K-Mart where she received awards for employee of the year and
several employee of the month awards. She loved her senior trips,
widow’s breakfasts, email, bingo, casinos, spending time with her
grandchildren, hearing stories about their lives, the Chinese Buffet
and playing cards until all hours of the night with her brothers and
family. She will be sadly missed by many. Ding Ding Ding.
Survivors include her loving children, David Curless of Berne,
Robert Curless of Littleton, NH, Laura Curless of Albany and Charles
Wagoner Jr. of Claverack; numerous brothers and sisters; 17
grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren (one on the way); and 1
great-great-granddaughter. Etta Mae was predeceased by her son
Kenneth Curless Sr., grandson Kenneth Curless Jr., daughter Lisa
Curless-Brandon and husband Charles Wagoner, Sr.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, September 25th at
the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena. Friends may call prior to the
service on Wednesday starting at 10 AM. Interment will be at the
convenience of the family.
